Public minibuses are classified by a green coloured licence plate starting with ‘M’ and various colour route bands which capture the name of their designated route. Minibuses are available island-wide in towns and villages. The north of the island, particularly Rodney Bay Gros Islet (which is a major tourist centre) is well-served.
Taxis are classified by blue license plates starting with ‘TX’. These are available at designated taxi stands particularly in the north of the island and at the two airports. Taxi service could also be requested by telephone.
There are two airports in Saint Lucia. Hewanorra International Airport at Vieux Fort (UVF) is located on the southern end of the island approximately 1hour and 30 minutes drive from the conference venue and serves primarily international flights.
The George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU), formerly known as “Vigie Airport”, is located on the outskirts of Castries in the north 30 minutes drive to the conference venue and is used for inter-island flights.

We currently expect that the Sustainable Development Movement scheduled for September 23-24, 2020 will proceed as planned. The health and safety of our attendees, staff, partners and volunteers is our top priority. As such, we are working to take the fullest precautions for this event. We are monitoring government and health agency guidance related to the COVID-19 situation closely and are working with local, regional and international agencies daily to plan for a safe conference in Saint Lucia. We will continue to evaluate and evolve our preparations as the situation may warrant.
We understand the uncertainty you may have surrounding COVID-19 and that you may have questions specific to your situation. Should this situation change, we will update you promptly. We hope to see you in Saint Lucia.
The SDM 2020 Summit organizers have since incorporated a Virtual Option to the conference and based on how things progress in the next few weeks, we may convert SDM 2020 into a full virtual experience.
